Default Bought something I thought was something else...

I just bought a Soundstream Rubicon Rub600-4 amp thinking that it was the original old school rubicon amp series.

After some reading I found out it is the SECOND generation version that was made in Korea.

The stats of the 1st and 2nd gen appear to be the same, but everything that I have read reflects that it was inferior to the 1st gen.

I have time to cancel my purchase, but unless I find out it truly is inferior to the original I'm just going to take my chances!

Anybody have any knowledge about this amp or if it is really inferior to the US made version?

This is all very confusing and I only have a little time to decide so any opinions are welcome!

soundstream was bought out by power acoustic , and power acoustic is owned by legacy.
chances are is severely over rated and made with very cheap parts

No I would be willing to bet it makes above rated to be honest. I'm just not sure on the SQ of it!

I was just reading that the they used the same board on the second gen as the first gen until they ran out. So idk what that means.

Soundstream amps. D series vs Reference series. SQ compared to newer amps. - DIYMA.com

The oldschool rubicons/references were beasts, so i'm thinking even a step down from those will be a nice amp.

The Epsilon takeover happened after those^^^ amps came out, IIRC.
