Default Next set-up, opinions wanted

I would like some opinions on my next set-up. I tried downsizing and going more towards SQ but I miss the bass. I only care about playing music, loud and low, numbers on the meter mean nothing to me. I'm contemplating between these two different set-ups:

1. Two TC-5200 18s that I would have rebuilt with some stronger parts on about 8000 watts in 9ft3 tuned to 35Hz.

2. Six Sundown SA-12s in 10.5ft3 tuned to 35Hz on two strapped Sundown 2000.

I already have the TCs & the Sundowns. Cost would be fairly close to complete either set-up. Now, I know the twelves slightly beat out the 18s in cone area but not by alot. Also, the 18s have lots more motor strength than the 12s.

So, I'm just looking for opinions and recommendations as to which set-up you'd prefer and why. Would you rather have multiple lower level subs or a couple higher-end subs for daily? Which do you think would be more musical? Which do you think has the potential to move more air?

If you want SQ and good low end, I would look at a getting a single 10 or 12 inch higher end woofer in a sealed enclosure with an EQ to keep the response nice and flat.

I don't see the point in having that much woofer and that much power behind a SQ system because you are going to have to keep them down very low to maintain balance.

SQ and SPL don't mix so well and the whole SQL is kinda bs imo

I dont' think that was one of the options. Lol. Nor should it be.

My vote is the 12's.

I understand & agree about SQ. I have a very balanced system thanks to the MS-8 with plenty of low end thanks to the two Avalanche 15s. It sounds fantastic but I'm missing the 150db bass from the last system. Guess it's just the basshead in me . I have a pontiac vibe that has a nice SQ system in it that I drive everyday. I just miss getting in the truck and pounding out the bass. Time for me to get that back, just not sure what route I want to go this time to achieve it.

All opinions are welcome. Thanks.

I am leaning towards the 12

I don't think it's that much of a difference. Six 12s would be 2880 cm2 (480 x 6) & the two 18s would be 2420 cm2 (1210 x 2). That leaves a slight cone area advantage to the 12s. But, the 18s (BL^2/RE=410) have a much stronger motor than the 12s (BL^2/RE=88).
