Default Questions about powering subs

I have a pair of Hertz HX250D 10" Subs with dual 4 ohm voice coils. Power handling is 450 RMS and 900 Peak.

I plan on putting them in a pair of around 0.4 cubic foot sealed enclosures in my Maxima. I have a Sony Mobile ES XM-7557 5 channel amplifier that is stable down to 0.5 ohm and will do 360 watts RMS into 1 ohm and around 500 peak watts. Can I run 1 or both of them if I play my system at reasonable volumes? Will the subs reach beyond my trunk with that setup?

I am thinking about not using the sub channel and getting a mono amp in the 900-1000 watts RMS range.

I fear that I am going to have to get a high output alternator though. Especially with a 2nd amp.

Doug

Does anyone have any feedback on this?

Also, does changing the sealed box size to a larger size help with lower wattage amplification?

Your gonna underpower ur subs if you run one or both...I would just purchase another amp that did [email protected] 1ohm, a decent can be had pretty cheap..

Also running 1k you will not need to worry about a HO Alt..

The XM-7557 is a 900 watt amp (4x100 +1x500 peak) and it states that it takes 81 amps peak, 41 amps at RMS. With the combined amps, would I still be okay? I am not into very loud volumes.

Thanks,

Doug

You will be fine, peak amps are pointless just a marketing thing, and unless you drive around with everything up all day, you will not draw the 41amps either..

should sound pretty good.

yes, if you amplifier can handle the 1ohm load you can run both subs.

also, the smallest power wire you should run would be 4 gauge. {btw / fyi}

Excellent, thank you for the replies. I'm going to get a good quality Diehard battery and will give it a go.

I am looking at a Nakamichi PA-1500 mono amp. They have been marked down a lot recently ($279 now). I think that it will do nicely!
