Default Do eclipse head units clip?

Just a quick question for the more knowledgeable members , i was wondering if eclipse decks ever clip? Reason i was asking is because i was setting my gains for my mids the other day via oscilloscope (tpi 440) and noticed that i could turn the volume all the way up and the waveform would not become flat, it would just stay nice and round. Even the frequency would only change by slight range of decimals ranging from (.01 to .03). I used a 1khz tone on repeat on a eclipse cd8454. Hopefully you guys have some insight on the subject

Seeing as how it is an eclipse h/u it is possible it was engineered to never clip, they just made sure the volume knob settings wouldn't go high enough to clip the pre-outs. Makes sense anyway.

I know, I wanted to replace my current deck with an eclipse unit and then when I found out they discontinued US sales my heart was broken. I wish you could still find good dead heads with decent c/o features and a good parametric eq. Its gotten to the point now where its best to buy a lower end H/U from a reputable company and save money for external processing like something from audiocontrol or jbl ms-8, audison bit one, etc.

I believe the 8053 would clip at 70 out of 80. I'm not sure about the newer ones.

Try and pick up a CD7200 mkii on here, other forums, or ebay. It's well worth it.

Everything clips.

But not necessarily at all frequencies. 1000Hz is a pretty high note, its not surprising it wouldn't clip there, it's more likely to clip at lower frequencies which require more power. Also since it only needs to play 1 frequency, its got a lot more resistance to clipping.

That doesn't necessarily mean that your tuning didn't keep it out of clipping range though. Your EQ settings may be good and keep it out of clipping, a good tune should keep it out of clipping. Also audio sources tend to be of very different volume levels, with some songs being recorded at +12dB, some at 0db, etc. (all in relation to another). The test tone might be recorded at a lower volume than music, so while it doesn't clip on the tone, it would clip on music.

I've scoped many eclipse units and I also found the same results. No clip even with bass maxed out.

I've tested from 40hz through 73hz with absolutely no clip.
