Default soft fluttering sound from sub

I have 2 lanzar opti1535ds, got them used.

one had a little bit of mechanical noise when I got it, then it kind of sound like the dust cap might be coming loose, flapping with high frequency bass. when I pushed on one side of the dustcap it went away, if I pushed on the other it got louder. It has gotten more frequent and pronounced. I checked and can't find any loose spots in the dustcap, even put a little epoxy where it seemed it was coming from.

now basically seems like the sub is making light fart noise with most high frequency bass. I have the tiem to pull things out next weekend to see what it is, but was looking for thoughts. Trying to figure out if I really need a recone or not.

Aside from this noise the sub hits hard and low. the coils read correctly.

any ideas of what to look for first.

thanks for any advice

sound like coil rub. doubt your dust cap is loose, and that would explain why when you press on one side it stops and the other makes it louder. usually sounds like scratching sound

thank you, I will check the coils too, I was planning on taking the cap off and will also clean the motor and check that out.

it doesn't get louder as the subs play louder stays about the same, and is generally worse with rock songs.

if it is coil rub would a recone take care of that or do I have to worry about something possibly having shifted in the motor.

Damn STDs better double bag it next time, but guess that's what I get for taking sloppy seconds.

Default If it is coil rub you would hear it when...

you push down on the speaker. If theres something in the speaker when you take it out the box shake it you would hear rattle check the terminals if the not direct lead some times they break like on kicker l5s and l7s and they rattle. If it has aids keep it away from the other speaker it may get infected when the trunk is closed.

Thanks, yeah they gave me the run around trying to get recone parts.

So I better hope it isn't the coil rubbing, seems a waste for the motor on it. Do you happen to know the

top plate inner diameter
the pole piece outer diameter
the top plate height

there is a guy on ca.com that works for a parts manufacturer, said he might be able to direct me to where to get parts, he is the wholesaler. if i get the info I will let you know
