Default Sub Question

I know don't know much about how the car audio stuff works I just know the basic things. But I'm looking for setup that is probably more sq oriented but can get really loud. So how would I be able to do this if possible? Do I just get better subs? A better box? Or what?

I wanna use 12s. And then do I use a ported box or a sealed box? I basically want a loud sq setup.

You say "better" subs or box. What's your setup now?

I have a cavalier. The trunk is decent, but I'm just gonna use the trunk I'm not gonna take out my seats or anything.

I mean just get better stuff in general. I'm using pioneers right now and theyre in a sealed box, and I have no idea what the specs of the box are. I've also used P3s and Kenwoods.

I just wanna get loud and also have sq. Idk how any of this stuff really works. I know sealed boxes are for sq, but are you able to make a ported box that will sound good? Idk...

If you don't wanna help then don't comment. I did use the search thing and couldn't find anything in particular that I needed. I need a straight answer not just some info and then me trying to figure the rest out. That's why I made this thread...because Idk wat im doin.

Do you have a budget? Did you want two 12's just for the aesthetic purpose? Keep in mind that one sub is cheaper than two or one quality sub can be the same price as two cheaper subs. One sub usually will take up less space than two(if trunk space is important to you). Especially since you'll want to build a proper enclosure this time around.

Yes, you can build a ported box geared towards SQ, but the box is still dependent upon the sub. The general rule of sealed for SQ and ported for SPL seems to stem from the nature of prefab boxes in which case ported=crap SQ. Yes, ported will be louder, but built properly, they can sound great.

Just stuff to keep in mind.

I mean I kind of have a budget it just depends. I can't afford anything right now but I'm hoping to be able to get two DC lvl 4s pretty soon or at least one for now. I'm not gonna need my trunk for anything else but I don't wanna use anymore room than that. So basically you answered my question. I just wanted a ported box that sounds nice.
