Default painting a box?

i am getting ready to do this build for my wife, has anybody here painted a box? what works and what doesnt? i dont really wanna carpet it, but i dont wanna leave it plain

Krylon spray paint. bondo, sand, primer, sand, 1 coat color, wet sand with a high grit, 2nd coat, and clear coat if you want. it always works for me

I think there is a tutorial on it.

Plywood is forgiving and or to much work to make pretty.. just paint it and be done.

MDF is absorbent so, you need to prep the surface with finish putty {bondo brand or other}

it kinda depends on your goal.

if you want it pretty, you have some work ahead of you.

if you just want it to "not be wood" then paint it and be done with it.

on another note..

Parts-Express.com has laminates which you simply stick to the box and trim the excess.. {seems like a simple fast and easy solution}

Walmart also sells some nice texture paint should check it out Covers boxes nicely i use it on mine.. Heres a couple pics of ones i used it on..

which one? The grey one is stone paint from walmart. The black one i do a black primor coat than at home depot they sell a rustoleum black/whiteflake texture i spray over it. Comes out nice

well i have to do it pink and light brown so it looks like that laminate is out because they dont have my colors. i will just paint it and see how it turns out
