Obsidian Audio will produce both a 12" and a 15" subwoofer to begin with. The subwoofers will be modestly rated at 600 watts, work in sealed or ported enclosures, and hold their own vs the competition in SPL.
First we have the 12" and 15" subwoofers. The motor on these subwoofers uses twin 190mm x 25mm magnet slugs and a vented pole piece. The voice coil is a 2.5" diameter coil with copper windings wound on a black anodized aluminum former. The impedance on our prototype subwoofers are dual 2 Ohm. Other features of the subwoofers include a 7" Nomex spider, woven on flat tinsel leads, thick paper cone, and a tall roll rubber surround.
Recommended enclosure sizes for the 12" are as follows:
1.0 to 1.75 ft^3 sealed.
1.75 to 2 ft^3 ported tuned at 30 to 35 Hz.
Mounting depth: 6.75"
Mounting flange to top of surround: 1.25"
Displacement: 0.16 ft^3
I'll attach pictures of the 12" subwoofer below:
