Default Voice coils read higher than rated?

Hey guys, I have a question I was hoping someone could help me out with. I pulled my LA Neo out to mess around with the box a bit more, and before I took it out, I checked how I had it wired with my DMM, and it read 1.7 ohms. It is a quad 1 ohm sub, and I had it wired to 1 ohm. So I checked each coil, and they all read either 1.7 or 1.8 ohms. The sub is still pretty stiff, so I was wondering if the readings will go down a bit after it gets broken in some more? It played fine, didn't make any strange noises or anything, but I was just wondering since it is a quad 1 ohm sub, and normally coils read lower than rated, not higher.

Lots of things can cause it to read differently. Like touching the dustcap can make the meter go crazy

DMMs have resistance from the wore contacts, suually about .5 ohms. Touch them together first and see how much it adds. Edit: Violence beat muy.

This. Mine is usually .3 or .4 off. Coils aren't normally perfect 1 ohm or 4 ohm or whatever anyway. My SA8's are like 3.6 ohms and my DD 2510 was like 4.4 even after accounting for my DMM's variances.

They read .4 touching together. But I wouldn't think they would be worn, I just got the meter for Christmas and have only used it a handful of times.

its just how the meters come from the factory. its not that the meter is worn. brand new mine read .2ohms right out of the box.

Oh ok. When they said wear, I thought they were talking about wear from use. So this a pretty normal thing then? My coils are about 1.3 ohms then?
