Default Goal: 50's from the trunk.

Got a new car, 2009 Chevy Malibu. I'm shooting 50s from the trunk, with 10s. Or close to 50's with a real nice low end. My question is which kind and how many? What type of enclosure? etc. Setup's I've considered so far, 8 or 6 type r's or aq sdc2.5s. Or maybe 4 or 6 sa-10s. other brands? Trying to stay right around the $1k mark for subs. Would I yield more output with more cone area in a large sealed box firing into the cab? Or with a 4th order or ported enclosure with less cone area? Just looking for a little guidance on the 10's game. Last 10 I owned was about 5 years ago. Opinions and suggestions appreciated.

skip01 on here has a nice box design for 4 10s firing into the trunk. 2 subs firing to either side and the port firing to the back. on an AQ3500 dude is in the 50's.

I saw both of his box designs, I understand how it works, just not sure if firing into the cab would be better than loading off the trunk. Just need some guidance on the brands, I've messed with the type rs and like them, just wonder if i would be better off with the sa or sdc2.5 or similar.

V style 4th order 3:1 ratio would work perfectly but 150s outta the trunk, have fun with that.

It takes a lot of tuning and testing to get there.
It is achievable

If I remember correctly those Malibus have HUGE trunks

Here's what I'm thinking

Go with more power and nicer 10's in Skip01's design

OR

If you have the room, remodel the design. I know for a fact your trunk dwarfs the Cavalier's trunk - so maybe try 4 12's in that same design IF you have the room.

If not, I still vote for Skip01's design of the 4 10's using stronger 10's and more power, that should get you pretty close.

That's the 4 10 setup
