Default So, sub box got knocked over. KABLAMMO

3 year old terror of a son accidentally made it slam onto the concrete. It seems that the pole piece got 'bent' or dislodged in the top plate, pinching the voice coil between the PP and the TP...(heh...I said PP and TP...Heh...).

ANYHOO, not sure what to do now. I thought for sure I had roasted the voice coil, so I tore the whole thing apart. How would I get the pole piece seperated from the top plate? I didn't wanna just go and wail on it with a dead blow hammer (well, I wanted to, but...)

This is a Soundstream RSS 12, (old school)
Besides from sorting out the sticking pieces, I need to source the replacement parts.

Thoughts, good nerds?

Thanks!

You guys crack me up!

I decided that this is as good of an opportunity as ever to lern sum gnu shyt.

(And I LOVED this thing for years, used to do 'hair tricks' with just this one sub in a huuuge ported box listening to the fvcking GRATEFUL DEAD years ago!)

This site has made me wanted to learn more, and figure out how to rebuild it as a hobby type of thing.
Make sense?

I will post pics tomorrow, on the road now...

I don't think re-aligning a shifted pole piece is something you can do at home. From there if you can find softparts reconing isn't impossible.

I'd agree that after cost of repair + shipping it out and back you're probably better off getting something new.
