Default Will 2nd battery fix volt drop for SAZ-1500d Amp?

Alright I have a Sundown SAZ-1500d amp that pulls 160 amps and when I'm at a stop light full tilt jammin' out to a very bass heavy long constant bass note song, I watch my voltage drop to 12.8 then 12.4 and then it'll finally bottom out around 11.4 volts and then the low battery light comes on.

I'm also not running this amp on a stock electrical system either. I have a Optima Yellowtop up front, a Powerbastards 240 amp alternator, +.6v Volt booster and the "Big 2" lol I havent had the wire to ground the engine block to the chassis yet. My system sits around 14.6-15.0v with no subs. The Alternator outputs 115-130 amps at idle. The SAZ-1500d originally pulls 160 amps and when I got it back from repair it had 4 30amp fuses which drew to much current so then I replaced them with 4 25amp fuses. The amp doesnt really sound any quieter but is only pulling 100 amps now. Now when I'm at a stop it stays between 12.6-13.1 for the same song. I would really like to go back up to the original 160amps worth of fuses to have the amp at its maximum potential.

I guess my question would be...If I added a 2nd battery in the rear could this pick up the extra slack so the amp doesnt draw everything the alternator is putting out? I know there's gotta be some size battery that will fix it, I mean I already have a bunch of stuff done and this is only a 1500 watt amp lol. What size battery would I need? Would a kinetik 800 work? Or do I need their 1400amp battery? I know the 3100 would be overkill

Thanks

do the rest of your big 3 you should see an improvement. i didnt do mine and had bad drop! after i did do it it kept my voltage up .4 or so better than without it. a small battery in the back like an hc1400 would work great for this. Or if you can find one a stinger spv70 is nice also for the money.

I just read on another thread someone had the same kinda set up with the 1500-1600watt RMS amp with an H.O. alternator and a XS D3400 Battery up front as his 1 and only main battery but he had no volt booster and he said when he was at a stop with the subs blaring, headlights on,A/C blasting, He would never see any lower than 13.9 volts and he charges at 14.1-14.3 and that was at idle..When he was driving it wouldnt even drop .1 volt

Could I just throw a huge XS D3400 or Kinetik 2400 or 3100(whatever their big sizes are) up front as my main battery and that will fix my problem instead of worrying about all this shit for a 2nd battery? Does anyone know how these kinda batteries are when they are the main battery and how they operate in the cold and starting the motor when its cold?

Thanks

my pb 240 amp alt has burnt up once he said one the paper when he returned it to reduce constant power but i was only running about 2000 rms and the one he sent back with no system but my head unit on my voltage goes all over the place starts at like 14.7[ on a cold start] and drops to 13.3-13.1. at idle nothing running within minutes turn my volume on the head unit up and i get 11 volts~about to send back again..

Finish the big 3 and definably get another battery in there at least 1000+. The PB alts have a crappy idle amp charge. So it doesn't hurt just to blip ur throttle a little or just turn it a little down from full tilt at a stop.(I do it for cops and well I don't wanna really blow out the ear drums of an old lady next to me. lol)

maybe i'm missing something here but changing the fuses in your amp will not reduce the amperage you pull

maybe you need to test what your alt is actually doing at an idle

yep, u do not have enough experience in doing this yourself yet...

At least you are monitoring your stuff though.

Finish grounding your alt case to chassis, then get someone to clamp your alt at idle. I bet it's not doing anywhere near rated.

You get what u pay for.

Get rid of Optima, get a Bigger XS Power Battery or a big Deka or something up front

Well the optima is less than a year old and has only had its power limits tested for the past 2 months and i dont have endless amounts of money lol actually not really any at all. I use to ball hardcore then I wrecked my Impala with only liability insurance and had to fork up the 6 grand I had in cash and then bills started piling lol

I actually just bought 2 Brand new Stinger SPV70's for a bomb ass price that I know if I didnt believe neither would you

Those 2 SPV70's in the back with the yellowtop up front, big 6,volt booster,220amp alternator,10% Alt O.D pulley should be more than efficent for <3500watts pulling 275amps
