Default Is this true ???

Not that it really matters just want to know if it is or not.

I picked up a Kicker Impulse x31 crossover.
My buddy was like nice coustic crossover, I was like huh?
He said started as coustic then badged by MTX then badged by Kicker.

Any thought on this?

It's possible they are made at the same factory or something.

You gotta remember though if it has a kicker sticker on it it's going to sound better than with a coustic sticker.

the old school XM3 by coustic was great back in the day(ran one in 89-91) and if i needed a crossover now i wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

does a xover make a pretty decent change in the way a good HU-AMP-SUBS setup sounds?

or its mainly for the complete audiophile who feels like tweeking their system every other day?

A crossover is only really needed if your HU is not capable or your amp is not capable of setting up appropriate crossover points. Any basic system should have at minimum, some crossover capabilities and crossover points set for each set of drivers whether they be components, coaxials, subs, or anything in between.
