Which generation of Orion are you talking about? The old 2500d's are stable below .5 ohms on a continuous power supply like JL's slash amps use and were benched at upwards of 3kW.
If you catch a good deal, id say the Orion. Sundown is a very nice amp, and underrated, but the Orions from that period were very solid amps, I owned 3 of them a few years ago, (4002, and (2) 1200d) all performed extremely well.
I say if you can save yourself a few bucks, go with the Orion.
Nah those orions have been going for 400 as long as i've been into car audio. I'd say they hold value pretty well.
To OP, like others have said there wouldn't be much to gain by switching IMO. Those Orions are very nice and have a regulated power supply which is nice when u don't use multiple batteries.
