Question Quick question: (1) JL W7 12" vs. (1) Sundown SA-15

Hey guys, I'm looking at 2 setups on craigslist right now for my car. Done with "big" systems, so I'm looking for something reliable to pound on daily (no more 4 batteries and 1000 lbs of equipment ect)

My 2 best options on CL are:

-JL 12" W7, I would most likely run a JL 1000/1 amp on it.

OR

- (1) 15" Sundown SA15, on a MBQuart 1500.1 (~750 rms @ 2 ohms)

Considering there both in proper enclosures, while being given proper power, which setup should be louder and sound better. I'm guessing the W7 might sound a little better?

W7 will sound a little nicer.
the SA15 will probably sound louder in terms of to the ear on the 750.
im assuming the SA 15 is D1?
sell the MB quart and get a nicer 2ohm power amp.

depends if your running sealed and ported.

I was likeing that one most, since it can be reconed cheap (JL is like $300 to recone, fuk dat)

I just don't wanna be disappointed with a 15 taking my whole trunk not even hitting 140 db, when the W7 could do that in a tiny box.

ORLY? I'm interested to see that... And a 140 is not that hard of a number to get to. I was doing 142's with 2 10s and ~700w clamped power...

Thats what I heard at least from some ppl and youtube.

I just wanna know which one will hit harder in my car. Its just the debate of nearly double the power, but less size (1000w on 12" or 600w on 15")

A 12W7 will take 1k all day. In a ported box, 140+ is easy unless you have some horribly inefficient car. A buddy of mine with a Taurus does a 146.2 on my Term Lab off his 1000/1 on music. I can't comment on Sundown as I have no experience with any Sundown products. W7's have a unique sound to them and when put in a ported box tuned to 32hz they sound great. I definitely do NOT recommend going sealed with a W7... you will be greatly disappointed.
