Default ev vs sundown

im ev guy all the way, i used to dj and no exactly what these evs people talk so much trash about are capable of.. they just need the right tuning on the right eq in the right hands..

check this vid i found on youtube.. proly seen it already but here it is..

‪EV DL10x and Sundown Neo-pro 10 comparison by SundownOnly.com‬‏ - YouTube

(( to me in the end of the vid on the last song he uses to compare the 2 loud speakers.. it clearly sounds like the ev crushes the sundown as the sundown sounds too low and muffled compared to ev..

what do you's think ?

So a video on a (most likely) cheap camera on YouTube through computer speakers is a good representation? *laughs*

In any event... typically the NeoPros will be a bit less loud up on the top-end with significantly more mid-bass output; this is by design.

To me, after listening, the ev sounds better as a full range speaker, if used by itself. The sundown sounds like it needs a horn or tweeter to help pull the upper freq. Both sounded good to me. Just sounded different.

Nvm. Jacob answered what I heard

On the first song, the EV clearly sounded better, but that was because that song was based on the higher frequency effects in the song. When he played the Sevendust song, based on the frequency range both speakers are meant to be played at, the Sundown excelled in clarity and low end response. Of course as Jacob mentioned, a video is hard to go by. Heck, in person the EV might've sounded better on the Sevendust song, it's just really hard to tell.

Ya like jacob said, this video doesn't do a great job on comparing them.. computer speakers don't do the job, almost have to listen to it in person. I personally have 2 pro 8's and I think they do amazing, the mid bass is very good, i can feel the air on my leg when i drive, at the same time they not only have good mid bass but also the vocals are very clear and loud. Pro 8's (and 10's lol ) baby!

Neither driver should be played full-range, IMO... more appropriately they should have an LPF on them. In any event -- we chose to focus more on mid-bass in a IB situation than the most screaming high-end possible.

Depends on what you want -- if you JUST want a midrange speaker (200+ Hz) then the NeoPro line is probably not for you. They are a midbass / midrange speaker.

I may design some that are more of a purely midrange type later on as an additional line for folks looking for that type of speaker.

I am confused by what a test like this accomplishes. Testing 2 speakers, non-enclosed, in a very echo-ey room for a youtube vid. Too many variables here.
