Default hdc3 15'' bad coil help.

Ok I did a recone on my sub about a week ago and did some free air on the sub to break it in. Free air was at minumal power to get this stiff suspension to get it some what loose so I free air it for about 6 hrs on test tones from 35-30 hz.After that I went ahead and put it in a box that was tune to 38hz box was about 4.5 cuft. played it for about 5 days with minumal power somthing like 500-600watts after the 5th day it started poping i was like wtf. so i took out the sub to check it out and played it free air and see where the noise was coming from. couldnt figure it out sound like it was coming from the dust cap. . so then i check out the spiders see if they were torn ripped ect.. nothing they look good to me. so i just decided to take it out the recone so what i seen was the coil seems like it shifted it will show all in the pic. Is this normal please let me know i sent these same pics to aq. . please let me know if the fromer and the coil should be like that and if its normal.

well your problem was that you free-aired it....DJ told me that any amount of free air playing will wreck the sub....

Looks like coil rub, former looks fine me. Either you reconed it off center or there was something in the magnet that didn't get removed and rubbed on the coil.

I find that hard to believe. Free air won't wreck a sub, unless you unload the hell out of it, which is easy to do if you got some power behind it.

Im not even kidding about that. He told me free-airing will ruin it every time (especially if you have the pole vent blocked, even with the dust cap off) and if you do have to free air it not to put more than 100 watts to it. Im dead serious.
