Default Replacing headunit in 04 grand prix with monsoon stereo ?'s

hey guys i just purchased an 04 grand prix gtp with the monsoon system in it. i am looking to upgrade to a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X395 headunit and i have done research and found that i need a special wiring harness to keep my door chime and alerts and what not which i will be purchasing. the headunit has 4v pre outs and i was wondering if this would cause any problems with the stock monsoon system/amp? I am adding a bass amp along with 2 12's also and was wondering if i will have any problems with this? dumb question but i am finding out this factory upgrade is a big pain in the ass. thanks caco.

any help would be appreciated man...would that enable the factory speakers to be run by just the upgraded headunit? if there is a harness that would allow me to just easily bypass the amp that would be awesome!

i also am looking into these RCA Line Level Attenuator 6 dB they lower the sensitivity and should drop the pre out voltage of 4v from the new head unit to about 2v (ive heard) on the monsoon amp which is the same as stock i believe...would be cheap and easy! any idea if that would work? and then i could directly hook up the external sub amp on the remaing outputs and get 4v pre outs to that separately.

maybe but running the 4v preouts vs the 2v that came stock wouldnt really make a big enough deal to require the attenuator. the main problem you get is if you use speaker level input, then your sub gain is way lower then ur now maxed highs level

would it be beneficial to just go with a headunit that has 2v pre outs? that would solve a lot of problems. what is better about a headunit with 4v preouts rather then 2v?
