Default Working with a NEW car.

Does anyone have a link to where someone has done an install in a new model Acadia? I've got all the equipment, I was just trying to look around and see if there was any build logs or any info on someone that has worked with one.

Thanks guys

I have tested that amp about a bazillion times. I know what it does clean, clipped, dirty, loaded, unloaded, wired down, low voltage, good voltage, after it hot, while it's cool, on caps, on batts, where it protects, what's thermal limits are and just about anything else anyone would care to know about it.

But thanks for chiming in. Your opinion is duly noted.

Help with what?

If you're too afraid to remove the hush panel under the dash to find 12v switched...you might as well pay someone to do it for you.

And why did you purchase a 12" sub that requires that large of an enclosure for a "stealth" install? Sounds like you bought the wrong equipment. Lastly, small amps usually have the most problems with heat as they do not have enough surface area to dissipate it. If you have a 1200w amp, it's probably going to produce somewhere around 6-700w worth of heat alone. That's enough to heat a room in your basement let alone a storage compartment in a car.

How did I get that number?

1200w/65% (amp efficiency) = total watts in (1846w)
total watts in (1846) - total watts out (1200) = energy wasted in the form of heat. This just gets worse and worse as you lower the impedance.

So ya, I'd probably re-think your product selection as well as have someone who isn't afraid of a GM ignition harness install that amp.

If you're too afraid to look for a switched wire under the easily removed plastic panel under the dash, then clearly you don't know what you're doing. If you did, you wouldn't have made this thread.

FYI, the car has been the same since introduction, and lots of people have found switched power in them.

If you weren't a hack, you wouldn't be on an online forum whining about hard to get to wires nor would you have bought a sub that needs that big of a box for a stealth install.

It's painfully obvious you don't know what you're doing b/c if you had some clue, you'd be able to find a 12v switched source in under 5min.

I gave you the best advice you'll probably receive; exchange everything you bought and have a professional install gear that works in your situation. That probably offends you b/c you had your heart set on some sub and bought it with a complete disregard to how it will install seamlessly into the interior. Lots of amateurs do that. The you probably bought the cheapest amp over 1kW or you got something with the right brand name on it instead of how it can cope with being covered up b/c that's what amateurs do. You haven't thought this out b/c this is something you've never done before. Not a big deal as we've all been there before, but don't you dare shout me down b/c you bought the wrong shit and don't know how to install it.

Ok guys. I'll just give up on life because "I dont know what I'm doing". I own an 06 silverado, with 2 DC XL 18s in a box tuned to 31, with a T4k, 3 D3400s, and all Knu wiring. I decided on everything for it. I bought all of it. I installed it all, alone, aside from the fact of having a couple people help me put the box in because it weighs a couple hundred pounds. Ik wth I'm doing. I'm not one of those amateurs who goess and buys a boss amp that says 3500w on the front for 300 bucks, and couple kicker comps and calls it a day. I feel bad for those people because they dont know any better. Let me go edit my first post so maybe you guys wont think I'm an amatuer.

Oh and just in case anyone cares, its a cadence 12 prototype with a high roll surround with a s2 coil. Amp is a cadence cr65 that I just bought from DonH.

If you're such an expert, why did you start this thread?

Everything you need to do in the first post sounds pretty straight forward.

EDIT: you ninja'd all the stuff you need to do out of the first post, but my statement still stands.
