Default how much sound deadening do i need for a whole car

just want to know how much square feet a 00-05 vw golf/gti a hatchback

Well taking into consideration your specified vehicle and what you say you're trying to achieve, I'd say anywhere from 60sqft to 1000sq ft.

If you want to do the doors, floor, firewall, and hatch you'll probably need 150 square feet or so.

Just helped out a customer doing a similar build.
Went with 25% coverage per panel and used about 40 sq. ft. of Damplifier Pro.
