Default Who can repair a HT reciever?

I have a Technics reciever from an old school HT setup. Want to have it repaired. One channel works fine, other channel has a crackly output IDK lol. Here are some pics of the insides.

Unless it has some sentimental value, I would throw it in the trash. Its a pro logic receiver and technics was run of the mill. If it were a nice lexicon or krell amp, maybe it would be worth it... But still probably better off at a scrap yard.

Hopefully it is something basic, like the balance, or bass / treble pots need cleaned, or maybe some bad solder joints.

That amp uses large chipamp ICís which look to cost over $50 each & possibly available through Panasonic parts still, but since it still passes audio out of that channel hopefully it donít need that.

If you have audio coming out of the bad channel but with crackling, it may just have a bad solder connection or maybe the pots need cleaned if they can be accessed easily.

Throwing it in the trash would be such a waste, I hate hearing about stuff like that getting trashed as there are a lot of good parts in there still, somebody out there could possibly use it. I salvage anything like that I get, haha, if I canít fix it or it is not worth being fixed I use the parts from it sooner or later!

@ pioneer621

If it's a simple fix, sure why not. My point of trashing it was primarily based upon the fact is it outdated and nearly useless in today's world. You can buy a used receiver for $50 that would be better. It doesn't process digital signals and can only function well as a stereo unit.

I hate to see things wasted as well, especially things of quality. I was regarding a recycling center that would reutilize the materials when I said scrap yard.

Well you did say throw it in the trash! lol

I agree that if it is something major going out then that unit is likely not worth repairing, & unless you can find someone willing to fix it cheap then it would probably be better to find a different one. As far as processing digital signals; I guess it depends on what he was using it for. I donít do much with digital so the old stuff works for me, haha.

Taking it to a recycling place would be cool, unfortunately most people are probably not going to do that. I tinker with electronics so I save all the broken or not worth repairing stuff for when I need the parts. Plus I build projects & a lot of the parts will get used, & I know there are many others out there that would find good use for stuff like that too, a lot of good parts in there still, so I just hate knowing good parts got tossed.

I do hope he finds someone that can take a look at it for him, I do not know of anyone unfortunately. Unless he attempts cleaning it & checking for bad connections himself.

So everyone is aware, best buy will recycle electronics for free. Just drop them off.
