Default What do Type Rs like?

It's going to be 2 Type R 12s in the back of a Nissan Xterra. Subs back port back. Just wanted to see what you guys have had good luck with as far as volume, tuning, and port area.

I have tested that amp about a bazillion times. I know what it does clean, clipped, dirty, loaded, unloaded, wired down, low voltage, good voltage, after it hot, while it's cool, on caps, on batts, where it protects, what's thermal limits are and just about anything else anyone would care to know about it.

But thanks for chiming in. Your opinion is duly noted.

4-5 cubes, try subs up/port back, around 60-70 sq inch of port.

On tuning, that all depends on what music you listen to.
My R's seem to like 35hz.

depends what you're trying to do.

The easy way out is 4-5 ported @ 35hz. It'll sound like garbage, but it will get loud.

You can get a fairly flat response in a large, low tuned ported box in a small SUV like the xterra. I've also had great extension/output in a 6th order, but that may be impractical for what you want to do.

You cant go wrong in 4-5-ish @ 32-35hz if you just want some big bass.

right around 4 cubes, between 50 and 70 daily port, ive had good results with 100sq of port for burps. tuned around 35 to 38

on the other end of the spectrum ive also done 4 of them in around 5.5 cubes with a 60sq port tuned to 38, and it did really nice, could play down to mid 20s before dropping 3db

I ran the pre-fab B.Box from Atrend, and it killed the lows better than any one in my area with pre-fab OR custom boxes, maybe grab the specs on that box. i dont know what it was tuned to but it dropped LOOWWWWW
and still maintained that "rock punch"
sounded amazing

I've designed a few boxes before, and they've all impressed me. I'm still learning, but why do you say Square inches of port? Wouldn't it be cubic inches of port?

I've always heard people say to do subs back port back because the sound "bounces" off the rear hatch and gives it more ability to develop.

i have seen most people do 34-36hz but they are wishing they did 32 to hit the lows better so honestly i would go subs back port back 32hz around 4 cubes
