I would assume a smaller pulley would spin the alt faster and deliver more amps at idle and reach the peak output of the alt at a lower rpm but only problem I would see is that it may sacrifice some bearing life. Not sure how that works with HO alts but I know thats how it works with "regular" alts.

i always thought DC came with smaller pulleys already?
i've had 2 other alts in, and this is smaller than those and i still need a tighter belt.

your alt should have the correct pulley on it.

too small of a pulley could make the alt spin to fast causing the bearings to break down..

although there is always the possibility that it came with too big of a pulley causing weak out put at idle....

i could be wrong, but it looked as if the pulley on my dc pro alt was a lil bigger then my stock alt pulley.

i will go double check in my garage in a few..
