Default Home theater subwoofer options

Need some input. I'm looking to purchase 2 ht subs, left and right. Although not necessary I still want.
I don't want to pay top dollar for one. There's some on eBay that can be had for about 200a piece with a300w plate amp. But they look cheaply built, that's when you get what you pay for.

Would it be cheaper to piece and custom build one?
I need some input if some of you guys have been down this road already and what did you do? if you have advice please post here.

I have an earlier model of this

Dayton Audio SUB-1200 12" 120 Watt Powered Subwoofer 300-629

You cant beat it for the cost of the enclosure and amp alone, probably do all you need but if not put a better woofer in it. At really high volume it distorts on the low lows but I'm talking loud enough you are annoying the shit out of your neighbors, let alone anyone in your house lol

its for a small apartment living room. wife ordered a tv stand and i need it to get here before i can get definite measurements. 18" cubed that i can measure so far, per side.
she doesnt want the 70" wall mounted and until the stand gets here ill be able to give you guys some measurements.
gave myself a budget of about $400 ish for both. best bang for the buck kind of deal.

The bic f12 on the page that I am sonic linked is a great budget sub. I used one of those with the Andrew jones pioneers in a budget build and was very impressed with the results for what was spent. It won't get you below 20hz but will play slightly below 25, of course this depends on room modes as well.

Put mine together and built but design was by Korey. Small sub because my living room isn't very big. Prob could have gone with a bigger driver but I'm also limited on space. But it works for now. 8" Daytons own Reference with a 240w plate amp and aeroport.

working on a deal with a friend for some focal 12's maybe a custom box/cabinet for them. im also limited on space now that the tv stand is here, ill have to have the boxes made to hide behind the ESS amt monitors. the prefab boxes from parts express are too bulky, and whichever way i tried that damn things wouldnt fit.
