Default Home audio questions

Ok so I feel clueless at home audio even though I probably shouldn't but here's what I think would be a good buy and hopefully someone can chime in and tell me if I'm going the right way with this.

Perhaps?

8 ohm sub, does it work for home theater?
Dayton Audio DVC385-88 15" DVC Series Subwoofer 295-190

A couple of these wired separately (8 ohms each)
Maybe in a .25cu ft box each?
Dayton Audio RS100-8 4" Reference Full-Range Driver 295-352

and a couple of these wired together (8ohms)
How should these be sealed off?
Dayton Audio RS28A-4 1-1/8" Aluminum Dome Tweeter 275-130

and the last question is will a home theater setup play a little music if the sub is tuned extremely low? Because I beleive it's supposed to be around 20hz

Trust me you will be alot better off buying some bookshelfs or towers that are already built or if you really want to do your own do one of these Speaker Kits in the Speaker Components Department at Parts Express | 286 or these Speaker Projects Gallery,Speaker Design Goals, Project Materials, Enclosure Assembly, Speaker Project Photos and More, Submitted By Parts Express Customers. . Its almost impossible to make a good sounding set without the proper know how, equipment, and software. As for the receiver you could do alot better for the money. I would be happy to pick you another if you would like?

"Center speaker has been cut, possibly by manufacturer and appears to be professionally repaired with black tape. This appears very professional and might be by design. The tape used is not some cheap electrical tape, but a light fabric-like tape. I assume if you are bidding on this high-end speaker, that you are an audiophile and aware of the origins of the anomaly."

On the receiver are you set on getting a new one? Or is a used one ok? Receivers dont hold their value very well and some very nice older ones can be had for a fraction of what they were new. Also are you wanting just a 2ch? You could get something like this which will work great for 2ch listening and it can do alot more if you need it to.

well i probably didn't find the correct reciever, but I was just needing something that will play what I buy lol. I know that sounds stupid but unlike cars, I think you're only supposed to have 1 amp for your whole setup. So i really don't know

Not at all, most high end setups have a central processing unit with several amps connected to it.

The most important part of a ht build is the crossover.

Go with a proven DIY design. Don't attempt to design your own crossover until you get some experience - home audio is a completely different beast than car audio and crossovers will, most of the time, need to do a lot more than just sperate frequencies. The tri trix is one of, if not the, best projects for first time DIYers and parts express has a knockdown kit that will speed up construction. I built the tritrix and you cannot touch this thing with any commercial design for up to 5x the price. As far as the sub is concerned this you can do more of a custom design. The goal for a ht sub is to play as flat and as low as possible, unlike car audio where peaks are desired. This generally means you want a low fs driver tuned close to the fs in a large enclosure. A bash plate amp is a great starting point.
