Default thinking about switching from comcast to directv. thoughts?

Currently with comcast we have the triple play package which is phone , cable and internet we also have two dvrs and hbo our monthly bill is 209.00 before taxes

Directv, s package I'm looking at is the ultimate which would be 39.99 for a year, free movie channels for three months also free genie dvr and upto three genie minis free (whole home dvr). Also free nfl sunday ticket. In the end the first year I would pay 72.00/mo for the first yr then 109 the 2nd year. I would keep comcast internet at 50 buck a month. Oh there is also a 200 visa card rebate for directv right now

Whos had both?

Thoughts?

Thanks

comcast has the best internet speeds but there HD picture quality is not quite as good as direct tv, why? comcast runs on rf (radio frequency) which is controlled by the fcc so they operate on the same 125 channels that your grandma's tv had in 1970. What the cable companies have done to expand there service is go digital, I think there up to 10 digital channels on 1 analog. The compression format is where the problem is with pic quality. Verizon fios, att uverse are also very good but still not quite up to direct tv in pic quality (fios is very close) but there internet still is not quite there with comcast. The big issue with direct tv is the 2 year contract and there pricing structure, it always starts out very good then slowly creeps up beyond that of comcast.
If you do go with direct tv make sure you get the larger oval dish firmly mounted on the side of your house, wind is not your friend so rooftop leaves it more exposed and pole mounting is not quite so stiff.

Hope all that helps

I have Comcast... I say switch now. Comcast freezes all the time to the point where you have to disconnect the receiver. Does not record correctly. I'm thinking of switching back to directv.

I got Comcast because of the triple play and it was convient having Internet, cable and phone in one bill. Comcast sucks in the worse way.

If your having issues with your service then have them come out and fix it
if they cant fix it then find a provider that can give you what you want. Truth is that some areas are better than others, sorta like the cell phone companies. It seems comcast and other cable companies (time warner, cox etc.) have written off some areas even though they still provide service, some areas the wiring is old and it would cost to much to replace or fix so they patch it up the best they can, sounds stupid but

you have a problem with your service. that is not normal. Don't complain about it, call and get someone out to fix it.

i work for time warner cable, used to work for comcast, and i definitely can't blame anyone for switching to direct tv. The picture quality is a bit better and sunday ticket for free is tough to beat, if you like football.

Although for internet i wouldn't look anywhere other than fiber to the home or cable.

They came out 5 times already in just 6 months. A few times because my house phone wasn't working or problems with the receivers.. Even had the internet not work. Which is big for me. Who cares how fast the Internet speed is if it doesn't work. My parents have the same service and had the same problems.
