I have an older Denon (early 90's maybe) and it was a great performer (I rebuilt the main channels for a guy but he never came and got it). I used it for a few years but I'm not big into surround sound so I set it up for my moms computer with some bookshelf speakers, lol.
Yeah I'd be more inclined to use the digital inputs if possible since it has them, but your motherboard outputs should be able to get some sound going.
Great score though and Denon is a good brand!
Keep us posted how it works out.
My last good home audio type score, but from a guy on CL; he was giving a away a free Velodyne F-1500 sub and top of the line (in its day) Onkyo TX-SV919THX home theater receiver to anyone who showed up to his yard sale the following morning, both pretty nice units back in the early 90's.
The sub we had a hard time getting in my backseat,
. Both needed minor repair (why they were free) and I've since been using them for a couple years with my computer setup. I only do 2 channel + sub as I'm not big into home theater multi channel anymore and mainly listen to music. The built in amps are very nice, but I don't use them, only the preamp outputs into a pair of Audioengine A5's that I got for a bargain at a thrift store.
