budget is always the first thing one needs to know. Then what are you looking for out of your HT, meaning average 5.1 set up or something that will add a LOT of impact to movies.

you can get a nice harman kardon avr354 on ebay for around that price and it's a bad mofo. My buddy has one and I get real jealous everytime I hear it. It's got HDMI pass throughs and all that. It's really nice for the price. And it seems like Harman underestimates their power numbers cause it's way louder than 75x7 that it's rated at.

This set up has gotten decent reviews on avsforum:

http://www.av-express.com/AV-Catalog...ineHomeTheater

If you want to piece together something then there are a ton of options. EPIK makes killer subwoofers for good price. Chad that used to own AA now runs EPIK.

Yamaha and Denon make very good HT receivers. av123 has HT packages priced higher then the first link.

Do some reading on avsforum and see what's popular in your price range...

For $300 you're definitely looking at the HTIB (home theater in a box) set ups. I wouldn't expect much for that price, but you could look into the set up I linked...

3808 won't happen for $300 LOL
