Default Receiver not working?Help!!

Okay I'm using a KLH R5100 Receiver and when ever I turn it on and turn the volume past about 25 out of 60 it just cuts off and the amplifier shuts down. Anyone know what this could be?

sounds a whole lot like you have some speaker wires crossing.

Time to upgrade to Marantz, Denon, or Onkyo

^ Agreed. Make sure you don't have a speaker wire shorted somewhere (bare copper + touching -). It could be a tiny short inside the speaker wiring jacket that is extremely difficult to find/see so swapping out another spare cable may be a good way to identify which cable (if any) is shorted. Otherwise, make sure the load you are trying to drive is within the specifications of the amplifier (8ohm, etc.). Also check that you have adequate ventilation and that you're not activating the amp's thermal protection.

first unhook a single speaker at a time to isolate the issue. Should save some time

Are you sure the receiver cuts off?

fixed the problem was that the wires were striped to long and when i plugged them into the receiver it shorted the amp.

lol the funny thing is, is that i have a nakamichi cassette deck, a marantz cd player, a marantz amplifier for my sub, and a marantz dvd player. lol I;d like to get 5 marantz monoblock amps and a marantz pre-amp even though i had a working marantz preamp at one time but the rca outputs when out on it and i'm probably gonna get it fixed.
