So a sub in a home theater application doesn't need as much power as one would in a car application?
i believe it also has to do with the electrical...12v dc or 120ac...Im pretty sure AC doesnt have voltage drop and shit....Thats why little 200w powered 12s can slam a whole house

Yea, you want to stay away from a peaky response completely! Or it will just be lame.

And the acoustics of the house is what makes the sound efficient so every subwoofer will be easier to sound good in a home then car. 100w is even surprising in a certain sized room.

About steady voltage, there are ALOT of common car audio amplifiers used in ca that keep the same output when your volts drop, it's called Regulated power supply...Competition amplifiers are the ones that increase or drop power to voltage. So i doubt thats it. Room acoustics is what is great.

your house can't take the abuse. I have like 100 rms 2 10's in a horn and I can move the glass in my window like 1/4''
it also seams much louder than in car
at least it does to me, you won't feel it as much but it will sound loud

Default depends

If you put the stuff in a average living room with the proper set up it would be like a car pressure wise just you won't have the air blowing by but your body will feel the same.Never metered a house but i felt the chest pressure depending the lay out.Don't put it in a small room It's intense and if you have single pain glass it might crack.

Pictures will fall off the wall with little power as it is, so it is besides the other issues. It is nice to hide a nice 10 or so under the bed or closet or something in your room, you won't need much and it is great.

So would you suggest running less power? Maybe 250-300w instead of 500w. Im not going for an intensely loud setup, just want something that will sound clean and balanced with everything else.
