Default Impedance Rise- Polyfil, Sealed vs. Ported, Bracing

Okay so, I am planning on building my box tomorrow and I want to clear some things up before I start..

Impedance rise, how can I keep it to a minimum?

I know that good bracing keeps impedance rise down via reducing the resonant freq. of the box. What about polyfil? Also, ported vs. sealed, which tends to yield a lower rise?

Thank you!

Michael

i wouldn't worry about rise that much for daily driving system. if your really concern about getting maximum power from your amp. i would get an very stout amp and wire @ .5 ohms nominal after imp rise it will still be low enough to start getting decent power from your amp or amps.

Yea and even if u had an amp that was weaker then an underrated amp, it won't be noticeable anyway. Imp rise dosnt matter for music it is natural.

Bracing is good, but dosnt lower res freq. You can say it reduces the build resonance or something though which is great.

Impedance rise is still an important factor, even in a daily application.

If your impedance rises to say... 2.5 ohms on a 40hz test tone. Then you'll see the same rise on a 40hz note. (but you are correct, it's constantly changing)

And bracing (in my case, atleast) has contributed to my impedance rise.

oh yea op, bracing will actually worsen imp rise. the smaller the enclouser the more imp rise. so adding bracing will do what?

if you want to help, it... with strength, and not add bracing , do some resin.

will also help with airflow, as long as its VERY smooth. and help with it as well..

also make sure contact points are secure, and are properly connected.

sodder makes a great conductor, and wiring. larger wire usually helps with at least your starting imp. depending on the length. also make sure that EACH run of wire both pos and NEG are the same.

those are things I've done to help. doesn't stop imp rise. but helps.

Resin alone would be about as effective as squeezing the enclosure with your hands, for bracing. Resin alone is terrible for bracing. But it seals and smooths.
