I have a 1998 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.0L 4x4 with a 3.5" Iron Rock Offroad lift kit. I got the benchmark kit (the better 3.5" kit) and upgraded the shocks to Bilstein 5100 series and added an IRO adjustable rear trackbar as well. She sits on 15x8 Cragar Soft 8s and 31x10.5 Cooper Discoverer STT tires. Aftermarket 1 piece smoked projector headlights with 55w HIDs. Tail lights are tinted with a light coat of VHT nightshades spray tint. Overall height increase with lift and tires is 6" higher than stock and the axles sit 2" higher than stock (27" to 31" tires is 4" difference/2 to get the radius increase).

Here are some pics of me next to a random stocker. Picture quality isnt great since these were taken with my phone.

Here is a pic of one of the front springs and a Bilstein shock

A couple pics of her while doing some offroading and shooting of guns. This was before the windows were tinted and I hadnt painted the gay white lettering on the tires black yet. This is less than a 10 minute drive from my house.

Some pics of the headlights. The trim around them was chrome and I HATED it so I scuffed the trim up with scotchbrite pad and painted black with some Krylon Fusion gloss black. Also painted the wheel weights the same color to match the rims at that time as well. I will get some nighttime pics of the leds running on the headlights they look sweet. The 55w HIDs are damn bright too.

Heres some pics after I had the front windows tinted 18% to match the factory tinted rear glass.

Heres some stereo pics I didnt take alot of pics while doing the install/build but you get the point I think.

Heres the Alpine HU in the dash

Image

Heres the CDT 6.5" mids, CDT SatNet 560 x-overs, and CDT DRT-25 tweets.

Image

And the tweets installed in the dash.

A temporary setup I had with the SAX 100.2 and the D3100 in back. Cut this plywood to fit the rear cargo area.

Image

Image

Here is that panel covered in black fleece.

Image

Some pics of the box I designed and built myself. 3.3 cubes net @ 33hz using 1 6" full length/uncut aero. All cuts done with circular saw and jigsaw but turned out great for not using a table saw and router IMO.

And the finished box and amp rack installed. I have the cargo floor piece cut to fit tight so it doesnt move at all and the amp rack/battery box is screwed down to it with 90 degree angle brackets. Box is screwed down from the inside as well and screwed form the inside to the amp rack as well. It stays put even while doing some offroading. The amp rack is covered in the same black fleece to match the floor.

Ya will fit 93-98 Grand Cherokees. The headlights and ballasts/hids were bought separately. The headlights are Spyder 1 piece. Comes in clear, black clear, and smoked.

Heres some links to a website with some lights they make:
black crystal
crystal
smoked

Im pretty sure I have the smoked ones.

Heres some taillights made by the same company:
black euro tails

I forget the website I ordered the ballasts and hid bulbs from but I think it was this website:
DDMTuning

Also looks great man I wish I had the money to do this to mine but I'm not a off road guy lol.
Thanks man I appreciate it.

Decided to mod the grill on the ZJ.

-Cut out the stock louvers in each of the 7 holes with wire cutters.
-Ground down with a dremel and hand sanded smooth the areas where the louvers connected.
-Washed the grill and dried it.
-Masking taped off everything but the inside of the holes where it was dark grey factory paint.
-Painted the unmasked areas.
-Cut the mesh to fit and formed them around the back of the holes.
-Painted the 7 mesh grill pieces.
-Epoxied the mesh grills into place and reinstalled the grill.

Might sound like it took a while but it was pretty easy and gave me a little project to work on for a couple days.

I fail at taking before pics of the factory grill...

So here is a stock grill looks like only mine was gold with dark grey in the holes where it is black now.

Image

And a couple pics of the grill in progress. I had cut out the louvers and sanded and masked and painted the centers black already.

Test fitting the mesh this is silver still unpainted.

Then painted the mesh black and installed the grills using 5 min epoxy.

Here is the pics of the finished grill installed.

Thanks. And they get dirty in about 2 seconds after hitting the dirt off road. ;)

I had a 96 Grand Cherokee limited, but mine came with a 5.2L V8...?
Also, your jeep looks very clean.
Mine stopped running, and was tired of fixing it, so went out and bought a nice 96 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0L 6cyl, and traded my old Limited for a 82 Suzuki with only 6k miles. Turns out my Limited only needed a 30 dollar heater coil and would have been fine, but I'm not too worried. Do miss the V8 though. Very nice, clean setup. Props!
Thanks.

Ya I kinda wish I had a 5.2 or even the 5.9 which only came in some 98 Limiteds.

The 5.2 only gets a couple less MPG than the 4.0 and has more power. The 4.0 is a gas guzzler herself but has a bunch of low end torque though which is great for off-roading also is a very durable long lasting engine.

Maybe someday I will swap a 5.2 into it or get a 5.2 ZJ that needs a bit of work for cheap and swap my parts over to it.

That'd be nice! I miss my V8 a lot. The 4.0L just doesn't have enough power for me!

I just recently downgraded and put a smaller setup in my ZJ.

Its just 2 AQ SDC2.5 10s in 3 cubes @ 34hz using a full length 6" PSP aero, powered by APSM-1500 until I get my other amp fixed. Figured Id see what the talk was about.

I just got it in a week ago or so and have been too lazy to finish the box. I need to fill the screw holes and paint the box and center it in the cargo area. Going to move the group 31 battery to the drivers side and build an amp rack behind the box between the box and the rear seat back.

So the 10s are out and up for sale for a little bit now.

Since I sold my Mechman 270a thinking I wanted to downsize my substage and go back to stock alt...dumb. I got a stock 150a alt off a junkyard 98 5.9L to swap in place of my stock 90a alt thats on the 98 4.0L. Little bit of extra juice for $40.

Got some 18s coming in a couple days already have the enclosure designed and cut sheets made up I need 5 4x8 sheets going to use 3/4" MDF, need a gallon of glue, 2 boxes of screws, and about $25 worth of bracing total materials cost of close to $300 when I add in paint and expanding foam and whatnot that I will be using to finish the enclosure and seal it off.

4th order C-Pillar wall with 2 DC Level 3 m2 18s on RD 1750.1 @ .5 ohm for now. 2.8:1 ratio after displacements, external port (*16" x 16" x ~8.5" deep inside dimensions*) off the front of the loading wall. *Actual length of port and tuning will be determined using a DATS to measure sealed resonance.*

Sorry not posting all dimensions because that takes all the work and fun out of measuring your max dimensions and designing it.

I plan to do the front of the loading wall and outside of the port black paint or bedliner not sure something like that thought. Probably flat white on the inside of the port and the ported chamber with whiteish blue or blueish white LEDs on the inside of the ported chamber. Not a ton of LEDS, I dont want it super bright just a little glow and will be wired to an on/off toggle switch so I can turn it on if I am demoing or showing someone the setup they can see inside the front chamber.

Just figured I would post an update on my Jeep and let you guys know about the new build. Ill try to take a decent amount of pics of the building process. Going to be a slow build though.

Edit: Now I am pretty sure I am going with something like this 20x13 port instead of 16x16.

Image

Looks better to me for one and seems like it might "load" better, though I know 4ths work different because of the sealed chamber. It makes me feel better though and I can fit any 18" up to a max depth of just under 13" through the hole in the loading wall, whereas with the 16x16 port I would have needed to cut a 19x19 hole in the loading wall for woofers to fit through it in case I need to remove or upgrade 18s in the future.
