Default 2000 Sonoma bagged daily with some bass.

Hey guys, Some of you might know me from a few other forums, same username (colbye32).

My name is Colby for starts, I have a 2000 gmc sonoma, bagged on 20's, with heat and ac, custom replaced nearly ever panel on it and waiting on a paintjob setup currently. lol..

Current audio stuff as followed. I change up VERY often, so this is whats in it this week.

Headunit - kenwood Kiv-bt900
Front stage amp - MB-quart discus 4.125
Sub amp - MB quart onxy 1500.1 - lol..
Sub - 05' RE HC with PSI recone
Box - 4.5 cubes after displacement, tuned to 32hz.
Mids - Mach 5's
Midrange mb-quart QM100 - with matching tweeters from the old school 3-way set.
Battery - XS power dc3400
Alternator - stock AD244 from a 2004 burban - 145 amp.

Pics of truck/system/etc etc.

picked this up not long ago for 100. so i threw it in under the rack.

battery relocated to jumpseat location. Amps under the false floor.

Terrible pic of it but here it is.

Currently the truck is apart, i swapped the cab on it, since my other cabs roof was damaged.

I have a buddy needing a box/sub for an extended cab, non 3'rd door, so this box would work perfect for him, I plan on selling him this box/sub and starting a build asap.

I need some help from you guys.

Id say im low to mid 40's with this setup according to my buddy. It gets pretty loud in there, and even louder when the left window is down.

I was thinking of swapping to sealed, and doing 4 12's, or 6 10's, in about 7-cubes. keep it somewhat close to the window line.

For power id like to stay within 2000-2500 RMS.

I had talked to my buddy about doing 2 18's sealed, but he said 6-8 cubes isn't enough for that.

Talk to me, what do s10's/sonoma's usually like best, ported, sealed, what tuning, what subs, how many.

Looking to get louder, and i will be upgrading frontstage, possibly some horns/PA stuff.

That's a clean truck man, always loved those models.

How's the sub sound?

The sub sounds awesome, and its VERY impressing to people thinking you can't have bass and be 6ft 7" and drive an s10 and be comfortable.

Hits hard, and hits nice and low with some decent sound quality, as im not an SPL guy, i just like loud music. lol. but I did't have the electrical up before i swapped the cab, so maybe now i can hit some lows without the amp seeing 13.0- volts. I'll know later this week.

And badmofo529 - whats up buddy?

same shit different day. still debating on if i want to bag my pos or not lol.

you could always try out that single 15 in a 4th order and see how you like it. would be a cheap experiment, and it would take up about 6-7 cubea

I don't think I'm gonna do anything with the current sub.

More come area and more power is what I'm going for

Love me some bagged and loud dimes...nice ride, Sir!

I was always a fan of subs forward, port up in the 2 S-10's I owned in the past.

Well, truck is back on the road.. Still finishing a little small things before I can do a whole lot of work audio wise..

The dsc4125 has engine noise, going to try and ground the amp directly to the battery instead of to the floor like it is now, if that doesn't work, directly to the frame it goes....

Didn't really set the gains, and today ended up cooking my qm100 midrange today. Had them crossed at 250hz 24db , possibly fed them too much power, with the combo of clipped signal, and they didn't like it. Oddly enough the tweeters are still fine.. Oh well...

Looking into getting an active crossover and go full active.

Maybe a 4-6" component Set for the dash, And some 8" mids in the doors?

Just has to keep up with loud bass.

This amp def. has the power to do what I need it to do. Which is great. Does 250x2 At 2ohm, but don't really wanna go 2ohm..

Any suggestions on the mids/highs? Something loud, with some clarity, without breaking the bank
