Default RFR2215 recone (Completed)

I was fortunate enough to find a 1999 Punch Power DVC for $45 on CL a while back. Sadly the cone was separating in layers under the surround and the spiders (well, spider and a half) were collapsed so it needed reconing.

Yes, it was in a sad state.

So, Dave and I cooked up a plan to resurrect it which involved a custom coil and new improved look.

Yes, I'm keeping the stock DC just to let it be known what it was and now is.

Sick rebuild. I have 2 of these in the 12" version and I was just going to throw them away. How can I rebuild mine? Mine are separating too and I had them redone at Orange County Speaker years ago. Unfortunately, they got messed up again and these have been sitting in the garage for at least 8 years.

Contact TeamPSI at Fix My Speaker (he's a vendor here) and have him cook up a batch. If you want cones like this it is 15" only... at least I believe so. That'd mean a new basket and possibly drilling it and opening up the hole for the VC.

How much would a project like that run? Do u know anyone local to me in LA? I'm just not sure if it's worth it to rebuild them since I have no use for them at the moment. Although, I never had them in a set up that I liked either.

I dunno, Dave and I worked a deal since he had to order coils in a set quantity. As a result I'd say mine are atypically priced. I can't even hazard a guess as to how much they'd run but I can tell you this, for what I paid for this recone I wouldn't have been able to buy one new in 2000, even including the cost of the sub as it was.

Don't toss those, sell them if you don't want them but do not chuck 'em.

It's all done, just gotta let the glue set up for a day and it's ready to test.... almost. I haven't done the leads because I need a bigger iron to desolder the old tinsels from the stock terminals. That could well have to wait until Monday.
