Default Linn LK100 2channel Amp

1. Product:
Linn LK100 Amp

2. Specs:
50x2 @ 8 ohms 80x2 @ 4 ohms

ftp://manual[email protected]/Manual/LK100_(E).pdf
3. Description/Condition:
I know your wondering why in the hell am I asking so much $$$ for such a small low powered amp? If you have a quality pair of speakers that are dialed in then you are gonna have to trust me on this. There is quite a bit more to the story of power, reading wattage numbers tells you about 20-30 % of the power story. Nice sized soundstage, noise floor dead silent, detail even at high volume is excellent (pink Floyd sacd). Up against my HT amp, 250 rms @ 4ohms vs 80 @ 4ohms..... Linn wins, volume was very close, detail was better, stage expanded a few feet more in each direction L&R, depth perception improved.

4. Price: :
$450 plus shipping from 33020 roughly 15-20 lbs

Only 26 views lol. I'm going to guess not many people here are familiar with the brand, Google it and see. I've had it wired into my system consisting of emotiva lmc-1 home theater pre amp , emotiva ert 8.3 3 way towers speakers and 2 definitive technology 8" powered subs. I use a projector and a 102" screen in my living room so it's my daily user. This is the equipment that I have in inventory and ready to go and changes every few months.

After using it daily for the past couple of weeks I am going to say it has to be the best sq amp for money in the used market. 50x2 @ 8ohms 80x2 @ 4ohms is very deceiving, there is no standard of measures for audio and this thing proves that. If you have a well designed pair of speakers, the emotiva ert 8.3 towers were designed with the help of Vance Dickason (author of loudspeaker design cookbook) so my speakers do hold there own, and there positioning is correct which my speakers are, you are gonna want this amp or its newer family member named klout. There are a lot of high end amps out there with insane power numbers and such but for under $500 on the used market the Linn cannot be beaten in sq. PS3 advanced warfare at a nice volume that matches the 102" screen is very nice, you can hear every bullet, ricochet, voice, gun and whatever else as an individual sound that is clear

I'm selling this 1 now but once I get enough saved up to to build my home theater again, I am buying a Linn klout or a pair of these. So far my dream/goal system is going to be Linn amps, goldenear triton 2 towers and surrounds. Still searching for the pre amp and a few other things to try and test before I start my serious financial commitment

Hi Kreapin,
Do you still have the LK 100 for sale? I know this is last years post, but Im in the market for one. I see you also had some Keiliedh speakers too. Those were my first set of Linn speakers, then upgraded to 5140's run active with 3 5105's. They are about 12 years old now and still working/sounding great, cant say that for my 5105 amps. 2 of 3 of them fried in a power surge, but my LK100 is still working great (used for center channel now).

Anyway, Im looking for another one to use as active amps for my L&R 5140's along with my remaining 5105. I havent posted here before, but have been on DIYMA for a long time and purchased there a few years back. If you still have it and are willing to sharpen your pencil a little, let me know.

Agree with you on the quality & sound of the Linn amps. The mid rangeis to die for with the active set up, and the soundstage is wide and somewhat deep in my much less than perfect room. Just wish my 5105's hadnt fried.

I havent ever heard of this brand. I am just starting to get into the home theater game and there are a few names I havent ever heard of. I am one of the guys who used to think that Bose was the end all be all in home theater and you couldnt tell me any different. I know how just some cheap Klipsch stuff for now. I am just in an apartment at the moment so I cant go all out but when I get me a house I will finally get something nice.

I sold tha lk but did pick up another last week I dropped it off at the shop on Monday morning for a run through. I'll check on the status this Friday, there behind a bit and have a few things of mine laying around. I love Linn stuff, the Majik 140 towers have been begging me to go active but I screwed up my left hand pretty bad, no work for a 1 handed freelancer so no money for upgrades I've been meaning to put them up for sale but have been spoiling myself for a lil longer. There days are numbered lol.

Mr spoiler many people knock Bose because many mainstream stores pushed it so hard, like it was the end game. In there heyday Bose did make some great stuff in there price point and still make some pretty good stuff but way overpriced and overhyped. Linn is one of those small brands that caters to a small crowd, in other words be prepared to pay lol. But unlike Bose, you aren't paying $2500 for a $500 product. Linn builds high end sound equipment and it shows, Bose builds clever marketing schemes and it shows when you put them up against lesser known brands in the same price point. Example, Anthony Gallo A'diva Ti surround system with sub will run around $1300-1500. All it takes is one listen to that smallish lifestyle system and Bose will sound more like a Samsung product. The Gallo Reference 3.1 towers can be had used between $1000-1500 and still are one my favorites, pair it with a linn lk100 and be prepared to be amazed what 50x2 can do

I still like Bose and would love to own a set of the 901s. Before I started to get into the home theatre, I did my research and it led me to klipsch. I'm sure klipsch isn't the best or middle of the pack but I love my KF-26 towers.

Klipsch was brought out a few years ago, not the same company anymore. Now mass production and best buy are top of the list, living off there reputation. Goldenear is a newer brand but definitly one to spend some time with, the triton seven towers are incredible for the money and will change your mind

Agreed on new version Klipsch. But my first high end (more like mid FI) speakers were a set of Forte's I bought used in the early 90's. They still sound good and are very efficient. Im running them in my bedroom using only a Linn Majik to power them and they pump it out just fine. Plenty of bass with the passive radiators too. Just big, old school boxes that ROCK!
