Not going to oversell this - its old and it has seen its best years. While there isn't anything specifically wrong with its functionality, its certainly many generations behind, so not at all a Home Theater centerpiece for your HDTV. But if you don't care about the latest and greatest bells and whistles, this is perfect. In fact, even if you have joined the HDMI bandwagon, this DOES have optical tos-link connectivity, so you can run you digital signal to your TV, and just have the TV output the audio, also digital, to the receiver (this was my setup until recently).
I should note that I have never tested any of the video inputs/functionality, and the interface is not at all intuitive, so you'll have to find yourself a manual .pdf (here: Yamaha Audio HTR-5230 user manual - OWNER'S MANUAL
) to figure out how to tune it and set it up for your speaker configuration.
That said, I've used this thing for oh man, over 10 years and its has never failed me. I'd have used it till it stopped working altogether, but I got a nice 46" HDTV and 125W surrounds, so this no longer did it for me - wanted HDMI connectivity and more power.
In terms of issues, there is one very notable problem. I don't know when or how it happened, but somehow the top of the receiver (the sheet metal cover) has been indented. Not by much, less then 1/8", and it does not affect the function, but it is noticeable from close up. This happened sometime recently, because the earlier pictures I took of it did not have this dent - visible in the top 2 below.
Remote is included. FM/AM antennas are not - been many years since I've laid my eyes on them...
