Default New here! Got quick questions too

I'm slightly new to the car audio world (i know my way around old school home audio a little) so I have a few of questions about products before I get started looking to buy here. Any help or even the slightest amount of input is greatly appreciated!

1) I'm looking into putting either a single MA Audio HK15x2 (would be in a sealed enclosure, but would have potential to move to vented box) or HK12x2 (would be vented). I've heard a lot of good about MA (mainly from my older siblings that used MA almost ten years ago!) and very little bad. What do you guys think about those two options? Which would be louder? Would I get that crisp "thump" from either setup?

2) For the amp I think I'm going to go with a Massive Audio N4. I can't find much on them though. How do they hold up? Do they tend to do well with sound quality and less clipping?

Thanks yall!
-Matt

What vehicle will this be going into?
What is your budget?

Maybe we can help you a little better than MA.

Oh sorry, I guess that info would be helpful

2007 Jeep Commander Limited 4.7L (160 amp alternator, in case its important haha)

I'm looking to spend no more than 420 on the amp (and thats my absolute max. after 350 I start to feel uncomfortable spending so much! But the N4 can be purchased for 350, so that seemed perfect).

For the sub I want loud with good SQ, but bang for buck. 300 tops on sub, which is why I was thinking MA (250). I can't decide between 12" or 15". I was thinking about doing 15" in a sealed box, but having a vented one in my garage for showing off sometimes

I prefer "like-new" or "sealed in box" type stuff

Thanks for the quick response!

Take a look into Skar or Obsidian subs. 2 of either 15's would be nice

As for an amp, there are many options. Maybe the Skar 1500w on 2 of their 15's..?

If your set on the massive N4 look up American bass ph4000md. same amp different case. Can be had brand new shipped $240 on ebay. As for subs if your gonna spend $300 dont waste it on ma audio... I'd check out psicaraudio.com platform 1 or 2. Or Obsidian audio as mentioned. There is quite a lot of good equipment being made right now that is in your budget. Any reason you want to go sealed so bad? I'd go for a ported single 10 or 12 before a single 15 sealed. Do yourself a BIG favor. Get a subwoofer that can reconed, save you from haveing to buy all new subs if you cook your coil or **** up your soft parts... I would also try for something with atleast a 3'' voice coil. sounds like your wanting around 2000 watts if you want a n4. Amps are much more efficient than they used to be. But have you considered any elec. upgrades you might need as well to run said amp?

I'll give PSI a look. Also, is the N4 (or the ph4000md) a good amp? Like I said, I haven't found much about it, so I don't know. And that is a good point about getting a sub that can be reconed. Thanks! And I've thought about my electrical system, but I don't know much about.. Ha.

Someone my brother installed for in high school (they graduated 2004, so probably installed 9 years ago) still has 2 MA 12's running perfectly fine on an MA amp. They are crazy loud and sound good, but hes not up to sell anything. I may put them in my jeep for a while to see how I like it.

On paper, those Skar and Obsidian don't seem overly impressive (much like the MA's). But I'll read up on them.

Also, I was looking at a sealed MA 15 because for ported they recommend 5 cubic feet, something I can't constantly have in my jeep (I transport a lot of stuff quite often for work, I can't have my back full of box ha). However, a single MA 12 could go into a 3 cubic feet ported box and still leave me enough room.

Thanks for the help you guys, I like how yall get straight to the point and tell me whats crap and what not
