Default New SQ lurker

Well just paid my lawyer to read and explain this website's rules LOL. There are a lot of them. I'm mainly interested in SQ, old guy, so I don't need to go over 140 db, wear earplugs, or reinforce my windows with metal straps anymore. Always on the lookout for Zapco C2K series amps and other interesting SQ equipment. Project Old School is well underway, may put some pics up when done.

I envy you. I wish I could use all old school gear. And actually tried when I got back into it. I realized very quickly that OS can't keep up. OS amps for the front is all I can manage.

Depends... Tell that to the guy (Erik Hanson was his name I believe) who was a USACi SQ World Champion last year with all O/S Audio Art amps.... So for SQ they can definitely keep up, maybe just not pure power output and efficiency compared to now.

Sub stage... it's not even close. You know that. SQ? Sure, but I need more output.

HU... nope. I'm spoiled rotten with iPod and Pandora and BT. And all of the processing. I prefer OS decks, but I make the comprimise due to features.

Front stage drivers falls into the same boat as subs. Tech and materials have gotten better. Look at the LP/Blues stuff. They're still using 20 year old drivers. They're awesome, but there's better.

Nothing like OS highs amps though.

Yeah I miss running my Eclipse ECD-413 head unit (the one with vacuum tube display) but gave it up for USB, AUX, and bluetooth... But man is there a different sound to them... Subs there is no comparison that's for sure.

Oh, I dunno. A 3k rms 100lb sub in about the size of a friggin shoebox on a 5k that's 90% efficient and the size of a Punch 150?

We're you about to tell me how loud OS gear can get or something?

LOL No I'm about to tell you car audio has always been garbage. It used to be cheap junk, now its Aisan recycled cheap junk. When you grow up you won't want to spend $20,000 on a system you can't listen to that can only be used about 1 hour a month at an SPL event.
