Default Help! with a crossfire vr2000 amp!

I recently purchased a old crossfire vr2000 amp locally and have been having many issues. The person i bought off of is not willing to take it back so im in need of some help and possible amp repair. First when i bought the amp it was missing 3 screwa which i didnt worry about at first but that lead me to open it up and see for my self. I noticed that 2 25v capacitors had been replaced with 35v caps of the same mf rating. I decided to power it up and try it out. Power up fine and sounded alright but when gain was set to the 62.3 volts where it should be for around 2k rms it sounds like 500watts so i clamped the amp and with my current settings i was only clamping 736 watts! So i decided to crank up the gain just to see what would happen and at 96 volts set with dmm im clamping 1240 watts which all reading are not correct because with ohms law 96 volts with a 2 ohm resistance should be some dumb number. Can anyone help me out on what i should do with this amp ive been trying to find the 25 v caps that were suppose to be in it but there really hard to find.

The caps won't make any difference.

What is the current at the output. Saying you have 2 ohms is fine if you know it is stable at that. Have you put a scope out there to find the clipping point.

I was thinking that alittle box rise wouls do that but this is a 8.1 cube box that dropps down to 6.78 cubes since i have 9 braces and a 10 inch aero also the box is tripple baffed on top and double baffed on front and back so i doubt its rising mucj my first numbers on ouut put were 15.4 amps and 62.9 volts which ia roighly 1000 rms with like a huge box rise idk whats goinng on.

Where does it clip? Voltage and current readings mean nothing unless you know the clip point. If you can get 96v out, the amp has huge internal rails. That's the trade off, high rail voltage for little current out for given wattage or low rail voltage for high current out.

You need your clip point.

That is a rise to 4 ohm. Also you have to take into account voltage drop on the amp

It sounds like it may by user related more than amp related. 1000 at 4 ohms for a 2k amp is not really bad imo.
