Default The name's JungleGym!

Because I like that oldschool jungle sound.

Hi everyone, I'm from Washington state and I just recently got into car audio after finally getting a car that was worth all the trouble.

My current setup is:

4x Alpine SPR-60 6.5" speakers on a PPI P900.4.

1 Alpine Type-R 12" in a ported box on an Apline MRP-M500.
The sub and amp was actually gifted to me and was my first aftermarket audio.

I'm currently looking to swap out the front pair of SPR-60s with some better component speakers. I'm eyeing the Polk 6501s. I can't decide if the MMs are worth the strain on my budget or if I should just go with the dbs. Any recommendations are very much welcome.

Glad I found this place and hope to become a fairly active member.

*Also, I think there's a type in rule 33.

Welcome, have you looked into better brands like tantric, sundown, crescendo, bravox, or digital designs?

Sigh... I suppose I should fix my typos before pointing out others. Apline.... psh.

I have. Since I'm fairly new I'm not 100 percent sure about the quality brands. I've heard good things about Sundown, Crescendo, and DD, but I haven't heard of Tantric or Bravox.

Ther are plenty of brands out there much better than alpine, and polk, i know, because i went through several many sets of the alpine type r coaxials, because hey do not hold up.

Bravox has their buyout at parts express right now, nice comp sets for super cheap only 5.25s though so you would need adaptor plates.

Tantric uhh... Nuff said, check them out on here.

Crescendo and sundown, ssa store.

Yeah I bought my Alpines right as I was getting into it. I should have done much more research, but I fell victim to the, "Hey, its got good reviews." deal...

So if I bought some 6.5" Crescendo mids and FT1 Tweeters, I'd have to get a crossover, right?

Crescendo makes component sets too bud.

Okay. What are the most important specs to look for?

I want speakers that get loud and take full advantage of my amp. So should I be looking at 130 +/- RMS and high sensitivity ratings? Or am I doing it all wrong?

Ehh... Kinda...

Sensitivity is different than that.
