Since I was 8, I've always been fascinated with "what's in the box", re-wiring Walkman's, taking apart amplifiers, building boxes, dimming head lights, wandering back and forth from SQ to sheer numbing vibrate your vocal chords ear tingling but I wasn't louder and lower bass. 12 years and 3 kids later that "old school" hobby begged to be let back out of the closet, Soundstream Reference 700, Memphis Pro, Rockford T1D412, T1000bd, T600.2, you get the idea.
I picked up 2 Eminence 15" Eminators for $30/each nib and built a 10.5 cu. ft. box tuned to 24 hz for my 92 Olds baby blue grannywagon, tossed two Italian pro 3" from PE and some hard dome tweets in the dash and the thirst was reborn. So I've lurked here in the shadows for weeks absorbing the wealth of information this site has to offer, following the "logic paths" and re-learning the language.
I was widowed at 32, I can truly appreciate the little things in life, but not the stock stereo in my new ride. After six long years working tooth and nail to get my life back on track while raising 3 kids solo, I'm finally here... Grannywagon upgraded to 2010 Ford Edge SEL, 18 years of new technology, and the packages started arriving today. .. Silver Flute's and Seas Tweeters, Pioneer DEH-80PRS, amp kits, black magic boxes, PPI Phantom, screw terminals for REF700, amp kits, braided cables... is it Christmas? No bragging or boasting, surely building the working man's sq here, still searching for hidden gems, trying to rationalize the use of huge capacitors that go against my engineering training (power flowing the reverse of the way we've labeled it and all) and stalking the only real installer I've found in six months to to be assured that he knows his tech from his "branding non-sense-ical-logiclacking-prettypicture-georgebushiannonscientific-congessionalbs-re-written&watered-down-RMS***based-on-comicbooks" sales gibberish.
I digress, torn on buying another T1D412 and doing small sealed vs exploring the "new-I've-never tasted-maybesciencemadesometangibleprogresssinceiwasaway-brands such as NVX, Arc, Helix, Rainbow (still think vacuum to be honest, or Care Bears ).
Congrats if you made it to the end of my ramble. Pics forthcoming as project gets into full swing. :-)
