Welcome back! You should find all the help you need here, if you decide you need any at all.

Keep us updated on the build

I have an old cerwin vega stroker 15 d2 that i want to build an enclosure for. I'm uncertain about porting the box through the ski/ seat opening and firing the sub backwards towards the trunk. I've seen guys fire the sub forward as well but I don't want to hack up the metal behind the seat so the sub can breathe. Also I will be taking out the factory sub so the bass can breathe into the cabin more. Has anyone ever put the old vega's in a 4th order bandpass style box or should I just stick with a regular ported box? the sub calls for 36hz tuning. my car is an 07 gs 350 by the way. I have a soundstream dtr 3400 which I know is overkill for the sub but I never turn my volume all the way up anyways.

Welcome.

You don't want to port through the ski pass with the sub firing backward. The trunk acts like another chamber and you need to load both the sub and port into the same space.

You *can* port a bandpass through the ski pass though. That works very well and that's how I did it in my Lexus.

Like T-Fade said you really don't want to fire the port into the cabin and the woofer into the trunk. That being said I've ran countless Stroker 15s and I know from experience that they fall flat on their face in a 4th order, not to mention they need a good amount of room to operate. I would just fire the sub and port into the trunk, and leave room around the box for the pressure to get around. It will sound fine.

If you realllllly want to seal off the trunk from the cabin and fire into the trunk you could do something like this:

Man that build was so long ago. Brings me back...

So you sealed the box to the cabin? Did you cut any of the metal like how steve meade did his lexus? does it sound better to do it this way?
