Hello All,

I'd been lurking on here for a while before even becoming a member in Oct. of last year.
I was hoping to gain enough knowledge by others experiences to build a "once and done" audio system for my BMW wagon.
Anyone reading this now is probably chuckling at the idea of once and done, as I have found that if you want to obtain the best possible sound (to your ears) then you will need to do your own experimenting and tinkering to achieve this goal. Every car is different and every detail about speaker placement, gain & crossover settings, component choice, plus a million more factors play a heavy role into what you will hear. Plus this is just a tiny bit addictive and I can't stop buying equipment to play with!

I thank you all for your insight on the subject and look forward to tuning and testing along side you.

Current system (and evolving)

Head Unit:
Pioneer AVH-X4700BS

Amps:
Zapco studio
100
150
500

Front stage:
PHD AF 5.1 PRO set
adding Peerless SLS 8"

Rear Fill:
Polk Audio MM 5.25 (mid only)

Sub:
Dayton 10" DVC

OK, I must admit that I thought that I was on DIY mobile. That was a bit of a rant for the classifieds.

It should have read....

Hi, I'm from NC and I'm an audio junkie!
The end...

It has a ton of great features and works quite well.
For me, if I had to do it over would have gone with one of their better single din units to provide room for a dsp remote in the dash. My kids are hooked on watching the DVD so I'll have to wait on the next build to go that route.
If sound and setup are your main focus you can do better, for all around use it is a very nice unit.
Hope this helps.

Speaking of typo, Op, looking at your tread heading. Newish Member. I could have sworn the N was a J. I was wondering what that had to do with your first post.
