Depending on how far south you come there are some places where the cost of living is damn near comparable to New York and the other major cities but if you look hard enough depending on the area you intend to move to you can find great sized homes in really good neighborhoods for amazing prices. Sometimes you have to make the decision to live in the sticks like I used to because homes were big and cheap but that drive gets old quick even with bass.
Been looking in the Kissimmee area, on CL. Seen some nice houses far cheaper and get more sq footage than what I paid for my house.
We'll see tho. It's not set in stone yet but is possible. It's a huge jump from WA to FL and a big change too.
Oh ya....I did a commute almost 100 miles/day so I feel ya. Never go back to that again.
