I was looking for some ADS 300is or some Boston Acoustics C700 ll plates
and came across this site. Figured since I'm here I could probably learn something so I signed up.
My interest today is in finding a pair of these speakers to buy for evaluation purposes. If they work, great!, but i am also interested in units that might have speaker damage. The frames, x/overs and grills should be in reasonably good shape. Meaning I don't care about scratches, nicks or the grill needs to be straightened. I'm not anal like a lot of e-bayers.
As usually I am trying to do something that no one has the interest in doing or says can't be done . I want to see if I can resurrect the ADS speakers as a viable speaker alternative for various applications. I would also like to upgrade it to in order of importance, 1- handle more power 2- Make it sound even better 3- Possibly even make a version that is more efficient and some how make it sell for the same price or less than 20yrs ago.
2= I am also looking to buy a Blaupunkt BPA 430 amp to compliment a Blau deck I have.
3- Thought I also would run this across the bow of you high end shop installers out there. I was asked to help another shop with a re-install of a system from a 2016 Porsche Panamera into a 2017 because he knew I had done a lot of Porsche work & only dealt with high end equipment.
Everything was going ok with the 3-way spkr system in the front doors and the 2-way system in the rear doors. Sub & center channel weren't a problem or placement in the rear of the 2 huge Audisson amps. The problem was we couldn't get full access to the factory head unit. The other thing is we could have run the Audisson or Audiocontrol high lavel to low level adapter to the factory amp under the passenger foot-well but it turns out the customer didn't order the premium sound system like last time so I can't find a amp and there is no center ch or sub.
When i called the parts guys at the Porsche dealer they had no info on it.
Then on a lark I called the Audisson rep and he tells me that the deck is actually FIBREOPTIC. Holy Shit Batman! The job is now on hold till I get some answers. Any one want to contribute useful info I'll be happy to send you a "nice " bottle of wine. Not to be rude & I know people like to contribute their 2 cents ,but if you are going to give me input I expect it to be first hand , not " I see to recall some one saying it should be so & so". The parts on this car are beyond dogs expensive if I break them. A $1000 install could be wiped out in 2 seconds if I broke one of the carbon-fiber trim pieces on this car It is a 01 / 2017 4 / door Panamera.
Sorry for a long first post but I got a lot on my plate & got to get it done.
I'm also figuring there a lot of smarter rabbits then me that can help.
