New here and relatively new to car audio in that I've been out of it for about 7 years. I used to run three 10" Alpine Type R's with an Audiobahn HC amp only pushing about 2/3's power as I didn't have enough. Also ran an Alpine HU, and Alpine Type R 5x7's. Sold off all of that a number of years ago except the triplet 10" box and the 1 Farad Cap.
I'm just wanting to get back into car audio again and doing a little research to find out what I want. I really liked the sound I got out of the 3 10"s, but don't really want to go with 3 again because of the limited wiring options. I don't want to go 4 because of money and space constraints so I'm leaning towards a pair of 12"s.
I've seen so many new brands that weren't around when I left car audio so I'm having to do a lot of researching to find what I want. The Type R's are my fall back if I just can't decide upon other options that will have as good SQ with decent SPL.
Little about me: I'm 28, have two kids and am married (for a short time longer). I'm a laser technician and laser cut/weld/mark medical device components and assemblies. I drive a 2007 Mazda 6i basically bone stock, although it has the 6 disc in dash changer (can't remeber if that is stock or option). I'd like to add a pair of subs and Amp as well as a new HU and the Metra dash kit. That's what I'm trying to budget for now, and I'll work on the surround system after that is completed.
