Default Question about selling guns

I can't find a definite answer on this. I bought a few guns from a guy at a flea market. (they're not stolen, I deal with him all the time) I was want to trade them in at a local pawn shop but they aren't registered to me. Can I still do it or is it illegal? I'm in VA if that makes any difference.

Idk about your state but here in California in order to buy a gun from somone you have to go to the local gun store and let them process it, then if everything is good they hold the gun for 10-11 days then give it to the new owner.

long guns or handguns. the best way to get your answers is to ask a police officer.

I am not 100% sure but i would say yes this is illegal. The gun may not be stolen but its not technically yours until its registered. We register guns for a reason, you could take that gun, go kill someone and the original owner would get in trouble because thats who the serial number would come back to

all you have to do here is go down to the police station and get it registered to you. i dont know how it is there though. the easiest way, and best way to make sure you do it right is to go down to the police station or something and ask.

From what I've read, va is similar to Texas and you don't have to register the firearms in your name. I usually do a "bill of sale" for both parties, it frees me from liablity, and covers the purchaser for any insurance reasons whenever I sell anything down here.

I think you are correct. Each state has it's own rules on this, but a reciept should be good.Either ask a cop,or call a lawyer. There are a lot of them that have a free consultation, and you could do it in a quick phone call.

Call the local police station and ask them.

Very few of my guns are registered. And it's 100% legal.
