Default Help with legal issue

Background:
I sold my last car to my cousin and his girlfriends dad.
My cousin is 17 and has permit and is fatherinlaw to my knowledge said he had his lisence. I filled out the title and gave it to them.
This was the end of August.

I then bought my s10 and switched insurance so there wasn't any on the bonneville, the one I sold them. All is good.

Problem:
This last weekend, my cousin got pulled over, drunk with no liscence or insurance. His father in law is in jail apparently ( they live over an hour from me). They never transferred the title.

My stepmom calls me and explains this to me and says it is still technically in my name so I could be in some shit.

What are your thoughts guys? I'm uneasy about all of this.

I wouldnt worry about anything. You're not who got the DUI and basically had no part in the offense. If anything all you have to do is tell your part and let them do the rest.

in tennessee if the buyer doesnt sign the back of the title where it says "the buyer"....

the seller still owns the vehicle, even if the seller has signed it

As long as you dated and singed the title you should be free of any obligations. Buyer information doesnt have to actaully be filled out until the vehicle is being registered. At least that is how it is here.

Due to the fact that this ^^^ is valid in a state, you better check with your specific state.
Talk to someone that will actually know (i.e. prosecutor, defender, lawyer) instead of a car audio forum...
You wouldn't hop on here trying to find a good lasagna recipe.

He is my family and I love the kid( only 3 years younger haha) but he is a dumbass. I don't want him to get into a bunch of trouble but I don't either. Crappy situation. What if he says I never gave him the title to save his own ass and said I borrowed it to him or something? Just stressed out with this on top of life.

Don't want him to get in a bunch of trouble!? Maybe the dumbass shouldn't be drinking and driving. Ever think about that?
