Default Migraines...

so first off, when i was like 14 or 15 i was rough housing with a friend and slipped and fell and hit my head on the ground and i think i gave myself a concussion, the next day i got my first migraine ( when i say migraine i mean a REAL migraine, not just a bad headache, im talking seeing patterns, and imagining tastes and sometimes even numbness in my face and arms) after that i would get them randomly for a couple of years and never could figure out what was triggering them. i stopped getting them for about a year then i got one every day for almost a week, then they stopped again for about 3 years then yesterday when i was working in yuma near the end of my route one hit me. I couldn't see my work orders and i couldn't drive (usually the patterns last for about 20-30 mins) which is a bad thing seeing how i had to drive ~2 hours back home to san diego. so i pulled over and waited out the patterns then drove to a CVS tp get some excedrin or something to help for when the headache hit. I spoke to a pharmacist and he said a usually cause from migrains is frequent climate change (i was getting in and out of my truck with the AC on all day, about 30 times) i then grabbed from french fries from burger king to get some food in my stomach before taking the excedrin and then i took it, then i stopped to fill up before heading home and the numbness hit me, starting int he left side of my face working its way over into my left arm and hand, then it passed after about 10 mins and then the headache started but wasnt too bad.

Does anyone else get migrains? Do you get them bad? what do you do to stop them or atleast deal with them without slowing down? I really cant afford to be getting migraines with my job seeing how im doing A LOT of driving and reading of work orders and the GPS and i have to climb up on telephone polls and stuff. I don't have health insurance so i don't want to spend a bunch to go have a doctor tell me to drink more water and eat better. I just want to know what will trigger a migraine so i know not to do it, i would do a web search but im the kind of guy that will read some stuff and freak myself out so if you guys filter out the scary shit i wont worry as bad.

i had a friend that used to get them every day too, but the cause of his was because his jaw wasn't shaped right, he ended up going under surgery to have them break his jaw and move it forward an inch and the migraines stopped. you ever thought about seeing a doctor?

I take sumatriptan succinate when they get real bad. otherwise I pop advil like skittles. Shit sucks.

The best way I have found to keep them to a minimum is keep my diet and water consumption constant.

If I eat and drink something small like every 2-3 hours, I almost never get one.

If I go over 10 hours without eating or drinking (while awake) 90% of the time I get a migraine.

but the sumatriptan and advil cocktail works when it gets intense.

I'll take 100mg of sumatriptan and 1000mg of advil, and try to sleep it off.

If I cant get a hold of it, it always ends up with me puking.

I started getting them when i was in elementary school. They would be so bad i would have to find somewhere dark and cold and lay down. Usually ended up being the nurses office. Lights would seem SUPER bright. especially flashing ones. i couldnt stand to smell anything. Would ALWAYS vomit. only relief i could get was to lay down in a completely dark cold room and try and sleep. Acetaminophen or iuboprofen wouldnt touch it. Would always sleep for at least 2 hours. Would often come home and get butt-ass naked just to get cold. IDK what it was but i had to be cold to get relief.

Me, my parents, and doctor experimented alot with trying to figure out what was triggering them. Come to find out what i was eating had alot to do with. I can only eat certain brands of hotdogs, i TOTALLY quit eating bologna, spam, potted meat, vienna sausages, and most processed packaged meat.

I still get them occasionally but probably less than 12 a year.

It's worth a shot.

When I used to wrestle and cut weight hard I would have one every day from being so dehydrated.

Yesterday I didn't eat anything after 11. about 8 hit and it started throbbing, I couldn't find any advil in my car, so I drove home from school 45 mins with 2 pairs of sunglasses on cause the oncoming lights hurt so much.

I got home, took my meds, drank about a half gallon of water, layed down in the dark for about an hour and was good to go.
