Default I Want To Download Songs W/ Great Quality

Source?

What to look for in a song?

CD VS Ipod. Different? It'd seem logical that data needs to be compressed a helluva lot more on an Ipod VS a CD.

...Mp3?

Digital remaster software?

Struggled with this & USB isn't an option at the moment.

Can you achieve the same quality from an Ipod VS a CD disk?

I'm not sure "what point" songs are compressed to on a CD. Wish I knew more about this

I've struggled with this for a long time since I'm a CD collector & NO compressed music sounds as good as the original CD. If you're using an actual iPod you can convert to Apple Lossless & it's very close in sound quality. The problem is the songs aren't compressed a lot so they take up a lot of space. FLAC is a non-apple alternative. I have a PC setup in my garage with iTunes & an external hard drive that has my entire CD collection converted to Lossless & it's very nice. The sound is pretty good & the convenience far outweighs the slight degradation in sound.

I also have an iPod with about 700 albums on it converted at 256kbps I take with me to work. It sounds great with earbuds but when I plug it into my stereo in my car you can definitely tell a major difference between it & the actual CD of the same album. Still there's the convenience factor. And safety as well.

If you're downloading look for 256kbps or 320kbps. The higher the rate, the less compressed & better it sounds. But also the higher the bitrate, the longer it'll take to get. You'll be hard pressed to find any songs to download much higher than 320 anyway.

^^ a lot of good info. Get only 320kbps songs. If you can find something to play them, FLAC is completely lossless.

it depends on what music you listen to, if it's recorded with a shoe it won't sound good no matter what.

How come some CD's are digitally remastered & others are not.

I guess the only CD's that are digitally remastered are old-er CD's. That'e make sense. I assume the studio's back then are nothing in comparison to the one's today.

I don't want to be draggin around 6 thousand CD's everywhere, especially if only a song or two is good on each CD lol.

What's the proper way to "rip' them off w/out losing quality? FLAC?

Better to use a CD or use an IPOD/USB?

What format do you call "IPOD/USB" anyways?

I should get an external hard drive in my car lol. I'm slightly familiar w/ car PC's, but not a whole lot.

Last time I checked MP3car, lilliput and xenarc were the only two touch screens available. I have room for one. Thoughts?

Personally for the stuff I want in very high quality (competition music) I put on CD. And that's all I use CD's for.

The rest of my music is on a SD card and USB memory sticks. And I usually get 320mbps mp3's. Or I rip CD's I buy in high bitrate WMA.

SQ=CD, aka no compression/originally intended format to be played for best quality

CD vs typical MP3
1411kbps vs 320kbps

If you are playing rap music, or heavy metal... or anything similar, there is a good chance you will NOT notice a difference between the CD, the differences that are noticeable reside typically above 10000hz, all the subtle nuances that can add realism to a properly recorded track. Which brings up one other point, the original production dictates quality, not some blanket format, so like Korey said, it needs to be recorded properly to begin with before worrying about degradation of quality from compression.
